Are you performing Minimal Invasive Surgery (MIS)?

Answer

Minimal Invasive Surgery (MIS) means that one uses the smallest incisions possible to place a prosthesis. This technique has meanwhile mainly affected in unuse, because the prosthesis is on one hand blindly placed (on itself already a problem) and on the other hand by many early entanglements (fracture, bad position, infection, local nerve lesions). In the United States this procedure is no longer covered by different insurance companies.

However today, each surgeon tries to use a minimal INCISION technique. This means that the smallest cut is made as possible. This may of course not be compromised by damaging of tissue by drawing too hard or complications, caused by limited visibility.

Minimal invasive is today more trendy then a real better technique. MIS together with computer navigation is possible a future direction, yet for now it is too early.
